Snowguards basics
What are snowguards?
Snowguards are L-shaped devices attached to roofs with a slope to prevent dangerous and damaging snow and ice slides. Snowguards help keep the snow and ice on the roof to allow it to melt slowly
Do I need snowguards on my roof?
Snowguards should be installed on any roof with a slope where snow and ice can fall causing damage to landscaping or over walkways or driveways or any place a person may be injured due to falling ice or snow
How do I install them? Can I do it myself?
Yes. Precision Snowguards™ can be installed by anyone. They also can be installed many different ways. We suggest using SB-190 Adhesive found at any roofing supply house. First wipe the back of the snowguard with denatured alcohol, also wipe down the pan or space on the roof where the snowguard is to be installed. This allows the adhesive the chance to cure and adhere to roof properly. Apply a liberal amount of adhesive on the back of the snowguard and push the snowguard firmly to the cleaned space on roof. Use enough adhesive so it squishes out the side. Be sure to follow manufacturer's suggestion on back of adhesive.
What about spacing?
Spacing of Precision Snowguards™ depends on size of pan and slope of roof. For a few suggestions, see our page labeled "Pictures & Layouts".
