Precision Snow-Guard Guidlelines for Installation

PMC Industries, Inc. offers these guidelines for the installation of the Snow-Queen and Snow-King Precision Snow-Guards as an aid to installers.   PMC Industries, Inc. accepts no responsibility for errors or omissions and cannot be held responsible for errors in product installation.

Precision Snow-Guard Adhesive Installation:

There are three critical aspects to adhesive installation

  1. Cleaning the surfaces - follow the adhesive manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Applying the adhesive correctly - continue to follow the adhesive manufacturer's instructions.
  3. Allowing the adhesive to cure thoroughly - full cure will take up to 28 days at 50 o F.

We recommend SUREBOND SB-190 EVERSEAL adhesive for adhering Precision Snow-Guards to most common roof substrates.

  • Contact PMC Industries, Inc. for recommended spacing and location for Snow-Guards on your roof.
  • Clean thoroughly the areas where the Snow-Guards are to be located with Xylene (Xylol) or isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry.
  • Cut the cartridge nozzle at slant to ¼" hole and puncture the inner seal. Apply the adhesive to the base of the Snow-Guard and smear evenly across the entire base.
  • Place the guard in position on the roof with the flat surface pointed toward the ridge and press down applying an even pressure.
  • There should be a small amount of adhesive squeeze-out all around the base. Wearing a rubber glove, smooth or tool the adhesive around the edge of the Snow-Guard to create a full water tight seal.
  • Snow-Guards adhered to a steep smooth roof may tend to slide down before the adhesive begins to cure. To avoid slippage, we suggest securing a string line to position the Snow-Guards and leaving it in place for at least 24 hours. Full cure should be reached in 28 days if temperature doesn't fall below 50 o F.

We recommend that you contact your roof system manufacturer before applying any adhesive to avoid impacting your roof warranty.
